The Peer Listening Support Series is an online series that provides a space for people to develop and strengthen skills and tools to support well-being in the agricultural community. This series will run for 7 weeks, from July 6th – Aug 17th. Meeting structure is a 1-hour window, with the first 30 minutes offering educational support and practical application of the tools followed by an optional 30 minutes of social connection. The weekly topics are as follows:
July 6th: Active listening: reminding ourselves we are not trying to fix anyone’s situation but offer an ear and shoulder to a friend, neighbor, or colleague.
July 13th: Self-care and empathy fatigue: ways to identify our own signs of fatigue, stress and finding ways to ensure our well-being while supporting others
July 20th: Initiating a difficult conversation and how to refer people to resources. We will be discussing the topic of suicide and ways to support someone who is living with suicidal thoughts or has had them in the past.
July 27th: Vulnerability is courage.
August 3rd: Direct and Indirect communication.
August 10th: Uncertainty and Adversity: It’s common and we are not alone.
August 17th: We cannot change or fix anyone’s situation. Rather, we want to support and empower them to see the path for themselves.
